My git has version 1.9.5 and the current version is 2.7.0 I can install the new version without losing my data? Because I have a series of repositories with this old version!! What should I do?

You can update the version of GIT without any problem, because the data of each repository is stored inside the directory of each of them, this data is stored in the hidden directory .git

On my servers (Debian, Centos, Gentoo...) I always update without any problems.
Just so you know, one-line responses will end up in the analysis queue of "Low quality publications" where we can vote to delete (not the case now)... I’m sure you don’t want your name associated with this... the guide [Answer] has more details
