Good afternoon, I possess Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, I need to uninstall the web server completely (IIS), because I intend to use the server Apache in his stead. In the server manager panel right-click on Web Server (IIS) and chose Remove Function Services. As image in attachment, I cannot click next to continue the removal. I believe I need to uninstall something first. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

Try stopping the iis service in "services.Msc" before uninstalling. Needs Administrator scrolling.

  • I stopped the following services: Application Host Helper Service (APPHOSTSVC), IIS Administration Service (IISADMIN), Windows Process Activation Service (WAS), ASP.Net Status Service (aspnet_state), World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC). The problem still persists.

If the service is disabled and/or no one else is using the port, you can install apache and use port 80. It should already work.

  • Take a look at the penultimate command of this Technet.

  • Checks whether the WAS(Windows Process Activation Service) is installed before proceeding, if it is you will not be able to uninstall the IIS because he is dependent.
