Is it possible to create a data field that is Cross-Browser?

Does anyone know how to make the <input type="date"> works in all browsers?

In the Google Chrome works normally, I can pass the parameter in the form, receive in the variable and play in the insert, the problem is that in Internet Explorer it does not capture that date. Is there any code that makes this method valid in all browsers?

Not all browser supports <input type="date" />.
