What language corresponds to "Foundation"?

I’ve asked this question before, but it wasn’t clear enough, so I’ll explain again.

I am learning Objective-C from a book. However, this book is old, and in it, the author of the book uses version 4.3 of the Xcode. Early on, it teaches how to create a new project in Xcode (very easy).Segue imagem de como ele cria no Xcode 4.3

When I went to follow these steps in Xcode 7.1.1, in the "Type/Type" area, I did not find the "Foundation" option he has selected, there is no such type "Foundation", only Objective-C, Swift, C and C++. Which of these languages corresponds to Foundation? Would it be objective-c? What is the difference?

Thanks in advance.

  • As far as I know Foundation is an html/css framework that can be used in any language or environment, meaning it does not correspond to any language cited, it can simply be applied to any environment that has a webView. I really don’t understand your question, if there is another Foundation or something of the kind, sorry but you better start studying more recent books.

  • @Guilhermenascimento Foundation in the Objective-c world refers to the main/base language framework.

At the time this book was written only existtia Objective-C so type "Foundation" can be considered code written in Objective-C.

As you are working with Xcode 7 then you should choose between Swift or Objective-C. This choice will be purely based on the language you wish to learn at the moment.

I strongly recommend using more up-to-date tutorials.
