When starting Eclipse this error appeared:

An Internal error occurred During: "Initializing Java Tooling". java.lang.Nullpointerexception

Why did that mistake appear?

Check your Workspace/. Metadata /.log or the error view to get more information about what this actually means for Nullpointerexception.

Or as per answer to a similar question, delete your existing Workspace and recreate by adding your projects.

You can tbm delete all the JARS you downloaded via Maven, sometimes some of them corrupt and cause problem in eclipse opening, you can delete them by going straight to M2 folder.

I had this same problem. And the solution that served me was to close all the projects and reopen what I was using. This solution was in a comment of the most voted reply of the link who passed above.
