What are the impacts of Google no longer supporting Eclipse? I can still use the tool to create Android apps?

I migrated to AS 1 month ago the IDE has many cool features, but it is much heavier than the eclipse, I have constant problems where it hangs it running on an I5 machine, 4 GB ram and video off.

This is true...I had to put 8 GB of RAM here to support the AS. Not counting the debug and Compile speed...but the cable doesn’t help, so...hehe

  • @Felipedouradinho, I will already make this upgrade in my notebook kkk, in the company use 8gb at home only 4

  • Ah kkk nowadays no chance, 8 GB and look there... SSD is also another thing. But anyway! Hugging

Yes, you can still use it. It basically means there will be no more updates to the Android Development Tools (ADT) plugin after the end of the year. You won’t be able to take advantage of new versions and features.

Until then, adapt to Android Studio ;)

By the end of this year (2015), Google will maintain support for Eclipse.

I would recommend beforehand to make the migration using the migration tool of them and believe me, it’s not hard.

The official blog post reported that users who have not yet migrated to the Android Studio, this is the time. The developers will have the projects fully compatible with the Android Studio (migration tool).

"To that end and to Focus all of our efforts on making Android Studio Better and Faster, we are ending Development and Official support for the Android Developer Tools (ADT) in Eclipse at the end of the year. This specifically includes the Eclipse ADT plugin and Android Ant build system"
