I found the site Browserstack which is a test tool cross-browser. It has different platforms, browsers and versions of browsers, helped me a lot.

The service is paid and the version trial is limited to 30 minutes Live, 100 minutes of Automate and 100 more screenshots Responsive.

  • The free version has 30 minutes of trial!

  • It is cheaper to learn how to use Virtualbox or Vmware and virtualize development.

  • But what interested me was the testing with mobile devices, with various devices and OS.

On one machine you can already use several browsers, another solution is www.browserstack.com. I use VM to test, as far as I’ve tried it is the easiest method.

First of all I wouldn’t test all browsers, and I wouldn’t worry about testing as many browsers as possible, but on the browsers that are most important to the target audience. To get an idea of how much browsers are used, I use the Statcounter, which shows charts as below:

StatCounter

Depending on the browser I would not test other versions, and would always have the latest version installed, as is the case with Google Chrome and Firefox that update themselves. It would also have versions of the other browsers installed, the main ones being Safari and Opera. And finally the IE, would have installed the latest version, which allows to simulate the old versions, since the 8 or 7.

If you need to test in older versions of IE or Firefox, you could use Utilu IE Collection and the Utilu Firefox Collection.

To test other operating systems, then I would create virtual machines using the Virtual Box, and would make them run as light as possible... only with the same browser.

Also, it is worth checking out the site www.modern.ie, which contains information on how to test multiple browsers.

  • Google is Google, nor does it say that Firefox is better, free crying :)

For this type of test I use the Sahi. Has a free version of it here. In it the tests are scripts that you can create by "saving macros" (as in MS-Office) or by writing the scripts in hand, in a very simple syntax. Then just run the tests in any browser. Works well.

You can also try Selenium, which is another similar tool.

To test on mobile devices the best solution I know is the service EDGE adobe

Try EDGE

I made a list here with several that I use and recommend:

To debug in different Vices and test responsive websites:

And there are these Vms for the VM Ware, for those who need to test in various versions of IE:

Who uses Grunt can use Browser Sync, if you access the site by your IP on different devices, it synchronizes the navigation, updates the CSS without giving refresh and synchronizes form actions, typing and scrolling. Pretty cool! * Browser Sync
