Integration with GIT

Question

I wonder if Git provides an integration API, like I’m developing a C# application and would like to know if there’s any way to get the files from the latter Commit. I took a look at the GIT website, but found nothing about it.

I believe it has a way, because how were created the clients as Github and plugins for VS.

If it is simple, post an example, or post a link on the subject.
