When I type crontab-l I see the schedules When I type-crontab and I can edit the schedules
what happens if I just type crontab ?

According to this link and tested in Ubuntu
The command does nothing, however, if you finish with Ctrl+D it erases the current cron file if you close with Ctrl+C it ends and nothing happens.
