To accomplish what the IDE indicates, you would have to create a new AVD to emulate your application. Sign in to Android SDK Manager and make sure that this package is already installed along with your API and Extras. See an example:
If the package is not installed, install it and create a new AVD with the specified specifications.
As you are using Windows, see below an example of AVD with CPU/ABI Intel Atom(x86):

@Helenafaria may be because the virtual machine is too heavy to run your app. Nothing is showing up because AVD hasn’t started nor Android probably. Try creating another AVD with the indications from the IDE. Maybe get, as they say, 10 times faster, to the point of at least Open ANDROID.
