What is the function of the -m Python option?

To find out what version of Django I have installed, I use the following command on the terminal:

python -m django --version

What is the function of the option -m of this command?

Options and arguments (and corresponding environment variables):
-b     : issue warnings about str(bytes_instance), str(bytearray_instance)
         and comparing bytes/bytearray with str. (-bb: issue errors)
-B     : don't write .py[co] files on import; also PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=x
-c cmd : program passed in as string (terminates option list)
-d     : debug output from parser; also PYTHONDEBUG=x

Checking the parameter -m mod, it has been said that such a parameter executes a Python module as a script. In this case, it would be the same as django --version.
