Is Anaconda a type of Python platform/solution like Activestate or is it a distribution? I am using Windows operating system and would like to know if Anaconda is a good choice for Mining data!

I believe you’re referring to this product, if the response is not disregarded.
In fact Anaconda is an open source platform for data scientists, it unites R (programming language for statistics) and Python, as well as modules of Scala.
I suggest taking a look at the documentation on the link I put there, but I believe that is not what you are looking for.
