I am a new Ubuntu 16.04 Laptop (I started yesterday!!). My PC is dual-boot with Windows 10. I have two problems and I’m already a little desperate...

1) Wifi does not work (I type the password and nothing happens). In windows and phone everything works perfectly.

2) I need to install git for a course, but it’s not working... I do sudo apt-get install git and there are many Temporal error of resolution "fr.archive.Ubuntu.com". I’ve tried to do upgrades, but nothing... the same error messages.

Would someone please help me solve these problems?

Thank you!!!! :)

Ps. Sorry for the lack of accents.

For Wifi, try to connect first via network cable, see if it works. It is common for linux not to come with some wifi card and video card drivers, because they are proprietary. Go into configuration, then "additional drivers" and install the optional drivers, but for this you need to be connected to the internet.

For apt-get install, first, you also need internet access to install additional packages (it is also possible via CD, but it is a more complicated process). With internet access, enter settings and repositories, select the fastest repository (usually Brazilians, due to shorter distance).

  • It worked!!!!! Wow, thank you so much!! I connected with a cable and gave it right!! Now only need to configure wifi (to penando because my Ubuntu is not in English.

  • Thank you so much!!
