Difference between operating system and mobile platform

I have looked elsewhere for this information, but I have not been able to clarify it. I would like to know the difference between operating system and mobile platform. For example, I always hear about android operating system, but I also hear android platform, which makes me think they’re the same thing. Someone can clarify?

    Your question is very wide... but basically the difference between the two systems is that the mobile device has a smaller hardware scope (processor, memory, heat dissipation). being designed to save processing and uptime. controls and monitors any activity. not to mention several sensors that are coupled, camera, micro, accelerometer. This requires one of the operating system to control these installed modules. an efficient permissions system etc...

I believe it’s the same thing, but seen in different ways.

When it comes to android operating system, we are referring to the system able to manage the resources of the phone hardware...

Now when we talk about android platform, we can understand that we are referring to the degree of compatibility that the system provides in relation to different hardware & applications. excluding this responsibility of the manufacturer.

also exists the Windows platform (programs in . NET and related).

The platform needs an Operating System, the most common being the Windows operating system running on a PC with an Intel processor.

Definition:

  • Platform is the pre-existing environment, a piece of software that is designed to run internally, obeying its limitations and making use of its facilities. The term platform refers to a combination of computer hardware and operating system.

  • And is there or is there no difference between them? This is the question asked and the answer does not answer this clearly.

  • I’m not seeing the difference by the examples. Even because android is based on linux, Ubuntu also.
