Why does my Actionbar due to an error stay inside my Statusbar?

Question

I started a new default project on Android, I did like this reply to my ActionBar stay on top of the standard menu NavigationDrawer, now, my ActionBar enters into the StatusBar and the source gets black, I didn’t touch anything the code this pattern with the modifications of the above answer that worked for it.

How to solve this problem of ActionBar that due to an error is entering the StatusBar?

Tries to recreate the project using Android Studio. A very important step is to update the Android Studio sometimes have "bugle" version. As you are using a standard sample it is not to take error.

Add to the root of your layout Activity_Main.xml the following attribute:

android:fitsSystemWindows = "true"

The fitsSystemWindows is an internal attribute to adjust the layout of display based on system windows, such as status bar.

I found out the reason for the error from API 21, your Action Bar will behave this way transparente because you saw it in the file there styles.xml(v21) she’s got transparent color, so change her file styles.xml(v21), thus:

After you have fixed up, make a Sync Gradle, then a Build Project and then a Build .apk and then you get back to running your app on a vm or mobile.

Obs: remembering that if you are testing on mobile, you will have to uninstall the version of your . apk with error, delete the . wrong apk that you copied to folder from your mobile phone, copy the new . apk to your folder and install again to see if now everything is ok!
