What is "soap"

SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is a protocol for the exchange of information structured on a decentralized and distributed platform.

It is based on the Extensible Markup Language (XML) for its message format, and is usually based on other Application Layer protocols, most notably Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)for the negotiation and transmission of messages.
