What is "rsa"

RSA is a data encryption algorithm, named after three professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Ronald Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard Adleman, founders of the current company RSA Data Security, Inc., who invented this algorithm - to date (2008) the most successful implementation of asymmetric key systems, and is based on classical number theories. It is considered to be the safest, since it has destroyed all attempts to break it. It was also the first algorithm to enable cryptography and digital signature, and one of the great innovations in public key cryptography.
