What is "request"

HTTP is a request and response protocol, which means that your computer sends a request for a particular page or file, and the server on the Internet sends back that page or file.

An HTTP request (HTTP Request) not only requests a particular file, it sends a lot of information to the server: your IP, the browser version you are using, which page you used to request HTTP Request and the language you use, etc.
