What is "netezza"
The appliance Netezza consists of a high performance hardware platform together with an optimized database that working together support a wide variety of data analysis and query generation.
The twinfin model of architecture Netezza, includes both multiple and single rack hardware configurations. Within each rack there are numerous components that work together to provide massive asymmetric parallel processing.
Components of Appliance Netezza Just below are the key components inside the netezza appliance:
1) Snippet Blades (S-Blades)
2) Hosts
3) Storage arrays
- S-Blades
s-Lades are responsible for fragmented processing functions. A s-Lade is a specialized internal board that combines the processing power of the server CPU with the analysis intelligence of the netezza database queries.
- Hosts
Netezza’s host is a Red Hat linux server, responsible for running netezza’s software and utilities. The host controls and coordinates appliance activities, performs query optimization, controls table and database operations, consolidates the results of queries, and monitors system components netezza to detect and report problems.
- Storage arrays
Each Storage array contains two or four compartments depending on the model. Each compartment has 12 disks. The combination of the s-Lade chassis and the Storage array is called "snipet Processing array" or SPA.
