What is "iphone"
The iPhone is a smartphone developed by Apple Inc, released on June 29, 2007. iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch use iOS as their operating system (formerly known as iPhone OS). IOS native apps are written in Object-c or Swift (since the release of iOS8) using the Cocoa Touch framework.
Most iPhone questions are also applicable to iPod touch devices.
In all cases the questions using this tag should talk about the device, so avoid using it to ask questions about App Store.
The iPhone has several features and sensors that are accessible to native applications (in some cases to web-apps using special Apis) such as:
- 3-Axis accelerometer
- 3-Axis gyroscope
- Magnetometer
- GPS and A-GPS
- Proximity sensor
- Microphone, Speaker and headphone port
- Front (from iPhone 4), Rear cameras and LED flash
- Lightning Dock Connector (iPhone 5 and higher and iPod Touch fifth generation) and 30-pin dock Connector
- Fingerprint recognition system (Touch ID from iPhone 5s)
- Barometer (Introduced along with iPhone 6)
- Multi-touch touchscreen display (3D Touch from iPhone 6s)
