What is "interoperability"

Interoperability is the ability of a system to communicate transparently (or as closely as possible) with another system (similar or not). For a system to be considered interoperable, it is very important that it works with open standards or ontologies. Be it a portal system, whether it be an educational system or an e-commerce system, or e-commerce, today is increasingly moving towards the creation of standards for systems.
