What is "feed"

Feed in English means "feeder", also known as "RSS Feeds" (RDF Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication). It is basically a data format used in frequently updated forms of communication with content, such as news websites or blogs. These are typically websites that change or update their content regularly. For this, RSS feeds are used that receive these updates, in this way the user can remain informed of several updates on various websites without having to visit them one by one.

Feeds offer web content or content summaries along with links for the full versions of this content and other metadata. This information is delivered as an XML file called "RSS feed", "webfeed", "Atom" or RSS channel.

The abbreviation of RSS is used to refer to the following standards:

  • Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91)
  • RDF Site Summary (RSS 0.9 and 1.0)
  • Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0)
