What is "cracker"

Crackers are computer-savvy people who use their great knowledge in the field to crack security codes, network access passwords, and program codes for criminal purposes. In some cases, the term "Virtual Pirate" is used as a synonym for Cracker.

Unlike what is preached in the media, hackers and crackers have totally different purposes. While the first group aims to make informatics accessible to all and only point out possible failures of a system, the second set invades computers and breaks security systems seeking to profit as much as possible from the action.
